House Clearance in Bury

A full property clearance is a different job to a rubbish collection: there is sorting to do, things worth keeping, and usually a deadline attached to a sale or a tenancy. These are often difficult circumstances and we work accordingly.

About this service

House Clearance in Bury and Greater Manchester

A house clearance is not a large rubbish collection, even though it looks like one from the outside. The difference is sorting. In a rubbish collection everything in the pile is going. In a clearance, most of what is in the property has not yet been decided on, and the job is partly to help make those decisions without rushing them.

A great many clearances happen in difficult circumstances. A relative has died and the family is working through a house while also dealing with probate. A tenancy has ended and a landlord has a void property and a deadline. Someone is downsizing and cannot take forty years of belongings into a flat. These are not ordinary jobs and they do not benefit from being treated as ordinary ones.

What that means practically is that we work to your sorting, not ours. Items to keep, items to donate, items for recycling and items that are genuinely waste. Paperwork, photographs and anything that looks personal get set aside rather than loaded, because those are the things people most often realise too late that they wanted. If you would rather go room by room with us, that is usually the better way to do it.

On authority: we need the owner, the executor or the landlord to be the one instructing the clearance. For probate work that generally means the executor, and for a tenancy it means the landlord or agent rather than the outgoing tenant. It is a small point that avoids a serious problem later.

What we take

  • Full and part house clearances
  • Probate and bereavement clearances
  • End-of-tenancy and void property clearances
  • Loft, cellar and garage clearances
  • Furniture, white goods and carpets
  • Separating items to keep, donate or recycle

What we cannot take

These need a specialist licensed carrier. Ask us and we will tell you who handles them rather than take them ourselves.

  • Properties requiring specialist biohazard cleaning
  • Valuation or auction of antiques
  • Clearances without the owner or executor’s authority

How the collection runs

  1. 1

    Tell us what needs clearing

Call or send the form with a rough idea of what you have. A photo on your phone is usually quicker than describing it.

  2. 2

    We quote for the job

A price based on the volume, the weight and the access, given before any work starts, with no obligation to go ahead.

  3. 3

    We load and clear

Our team does the lifting and carrying, including from upstairs or round the back, then tidies the area afterwards.

  4. 4

    It is sorted and recycled

The load is separated so that metal, wood, cardboard and green waste go for recycling rather than straight to landfill.
