Garden Waste Clearance in Bury

After a hedge comes down or a border is dug over there is usually far more to shift than a green bin will hold. Garden waste is heavy and bulky at the same time, so it is worth having it taken in one go.

About this service

Garden Waste in Bury and Greater Manchester

Garden waste has an awkward quality: it is bulky and heavy at the same time. A day of hedge-cutting produces a volume that looks manageable piled on a lawn and turns out to fill a van, and soil or turf that occupies very little space can weigh a great deal. This is why green waste is priced on both volume and weight rather than one or the other.

A green bin handles ongoing trimmings perfectly well. What it does not handle is the one-off: a hedge taken down to the stumps, a border dug over, a lawn lifted, an old shed or a run of rotten fence panels. Those produce more in an afternoon than a fortnightly bin will clear in a season, and they often include material a green bin will not accept anyway, such as timber, trellis and concrete-set posts.

Clean green waste composts well and is genuinely one of the better outcomes in waste, so it is worth keeping it separate from general rubbish rather than letting the two mix in the same pile. If you are clearing a garden and a shed on the same day, two separate heaps will usually cost less to take than one mixed one.

One important exception: Japanese knotweed and other controlled invasive species are classed as controlled waste and must go to a licensed facility by a carrier set up for it. Moving it incorrectly can spread it and is an offence. If you think you have it, do not let anyone cut it or dig it until it has been identified properly.

How the collection runs

  1. 1

    Tell us what needs clearing

Call or send the form with a rough idea of what you have. A photo on your phone is usually quicker than describing it.

  2. 2

    We quote for the job

A price based on the volume, the weight and the access, given before any work starts, with no obligation to go ahead.

  3. 3

    We load and clear

Our team does the lifting and carrying, including from upstairs or round the back, then tidies the area afterwards.

  4. 4

    It is sorted and recycled

The load is separated so that metal, wood, cardboard and green waste go for recycling rather than straight to landfill.
